Drake Ties Michael Jackson Chart Record With “Views” & “One Dance”

Drake Ties Michael Jackson Chart Record With “Views” & “One Dance”

Drake has been dominating the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks with his smash hit song, “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla. Not only has the global hit bagged him a charting song, but also a charting album. Views has been in the Billboard 200 chart for the ninth consecutive week.

Drake and Michael Jackson are now the only two male artists in Billboard history to concurrently have the No. 1 song and album for seven consecutive weeks. Drake’s Views has been No. 1 for nine weeks straight, while “One Dance” has led the Hot 100 for eight nonconsecutive weeks (it was once dethroned by Justin Timberlake), and now seven straight.

Drake’s dominance on the charts in 2016 has already helped him racked up some records most rappers can only dream of reaching. The OVO Sound artist eclipsed Eminem’s third place spot for rap album with the most weeks at No. 1. Views has been No. 1 for nine straight weeks, passing Slim Shady’s eight week run at the top with 2000’s Marshall Mathers LP. Drake’s album will have to be a monumental performer to match the actual record though. MC Hammer’s 1990 album Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em was No. 1 on the Top 200 for an incredible 21 straight weeks.
